Merseyside play their first game in this years County Championship against Cumbria on Sunday 1st May 2022.  The venue is Mossley Hill Athletic BC and the game will commence at 2p.m.  Spectators are more than welcome.

I have been informed of the passing of Frank Beardsmore who was a member of West Derby Recs for a number of years.  His Funeral will take place at 4p.m. on Friday 29th April 202 at Anfield Crematorium. RIP.   Ron

The greens for the League Individual Competitions have now been sorted and they are :

Handicap Monday 6th June – West Derby Recs and ASM.  Final at Grant.

Merit Monday 4th July – Larkhill Alder and Calderstones.   Final at Gardeners

Over 70″s Monday 8th August – ASM and Richmond.   Final at Olympic

League Pairs Monday 22nd August – Larkhill and Grant.  Final at Richmond.

Walton Hall Pensioners report the passing of one of their long standing members, Andy  Tallon.  His Funeral will take place at Sacred Heart Church 12noon on Tuesday 19th April 2022 followed by cremation at Anfield Crematorium.  Refreshments will be provided at Alder Social Club after the funeral.

Secretaries and Captains are reminded that if the result of the Tuesday game is not with the League Secretary before 10am the following day then a fine of £2 will be imposed.

Teams in the Second Division are reminded that two teams have changed their green for the coming season.  Walton Hall will revert to their parent green at Walton Hall Avenue Park , L4 and Springwood will play at Cheshire Lines Green, Southmeade Road, Liverpool 19.

Dear All

We have booked the large room at the Mossley Hill Athletic Club for Monday 11th April from 7.30pm.

We will be there to arrange for those Safeguarding Officers whose DBS Certificates are due for renewal to attend and complete the necessary forms for renewal.

If Clubs have changed their Safeguarding Officer then the new person should also attend and complete the required forms to obtain a DBS Certificate.

There is no charge for the renewal or issue of new certificates.

Would you please advise your Clubs and Safeguarding Officers of this.

They will need to bring with them the following:-
Black Ink Pen
Driving Licence
Passport
Proof of National Insurance Number
Proof of date of birth (eg. driving licence, passport or birth certificate)
Proof of home address (eg. driving licence or utility bill)

Whilst we are there Pat Crowther will be attendance and she will have the BCGBA Handbooks for distribution and all Club Secretaries are asked to call in and collect them.

The League season will commence on Tuesday 5th April 2022 and the first fixtures are as follows.  Fixture books will be handed out at the Spring Meeting on Wednesday 23rd March 2022 at the Richmond.

With reference to the previous notice regarding Tommy, sadly I have now been informed that he passed away  whilst in the  Marie Curie Centre at Woolton.  Tommy was a great supporter of  Crown Green  Bowls especially regarding Pensioners.  He sponsored the Pairs competition in addition to being  a Past President,  Chairman  and life member of this League.  He will be missed by all.  RIP Tommy. His funeral will take place at 10.30.a.m. on Monday 14th March 2022 at St. Stephens Church, Belle Vale Road, Liverpool L25 2 PQ followed by a  short service at Springwood Crematorium at 11.30 a.m.  Following the funeral services refreshments will be provided at Mossley Hill Athletic Club, all are welcome.

I have been informed that Tommy Jamieson has been admitted to the Royal Hospital and from all accounts he is not very well.  Apart from his immediate family no visitors are allowed.   Ron

Sport England have launched a new £5 million fund to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, that aims to use sport and physical activity to bring communities together and tackle inequalities.

Using money from the National Lottery, the fund will make awards of between £300 and £10,000 to community organisations in support of new projects providing opportunities to become more physically active.  The funds could be used for things such as facility hire and coaching costs, or even small capital improvements.

It has ben decided that the Annual General Meeting due to be held on Monday 10th January 2022 will be postponed to a date yet to be arranged.

I have been informed that Dave Moore of Richmond 2 has passed away whilst in Hospital wth Covid. A true Gentleman he will be sadly missed. RIP. His  funeral will take place at 10.30am on Tuesday 11th January 2022 at St. Mary’s Church, West Derby followed by cremation at Anfield Crematorium.

Advance notice is given that the Annual General Meeting will be held at The Richmond Club at 1.30.p.m. on Monday 10th January 2022.  Any proposed rule changes must be with the League Secretary by the 10th December 2021.

I have been informed of the passing of Bob Schorah who played for a number of years at both  Halewood and Farmers Arms.  His funeral arrangements are not yet to hand.

Are there any teams that require a long tape measure.  I have been offered one for sale, it is 30 metres long in good condition and the price is £10 ono.  Give me a call and I will sort it.
