Liverpool Pensions Bowling League

Grant Pensioners report the passing of one of their long standing members Tony Broadhurst.  His funeral will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday 4th June 2019 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 19 Hedgefield Road, Gateacre  L25 2RW

Richmond BC report the passing of one of their members Richard Horrocks. Mr. Horrocks was a Past President of the Club and his funeral will take place at Anfield Crematorium at 4 p.m. on Thursday 23rd May 2019 and afterwards at the Richmond Club.

The Spring Meeting will take place at Alder Road Club commencing at 2pm  on Monday 1st April 2019, all Clubs must be represented.  Fixture books will be available for distribution at this meeting.  The Treasurer will be in attendance from 1.30.p.m. to accept fees etc.

The Annual General Meeting of this League will take place at 2 p.m. on Thursday 17th January 2019 at Alder Road Club.  All members of the League are welcome to attend. The following proposals will be heard :-

Rule 3.2 (c) Delete this rule and insert. Points in League matches shall be awarded as follows. For every winner 1 point will be awarded. In the total aggregate 2 further points will be awarded for a home win and 3 for an away win. The number of points gained per match will be included in the points column of the League Tables (e.g. If a team has 6 winners and win the aggregate in an away match they will accrue a total of 9 points in that match). Also if a team have a number of winners and do not win the aggregate the points scored by the winners will be added to the total in the League table.) In cup matches only the total aggregate will count.

Proposed by Management Committee and seconded by Olympic. This proposal resulted in 15 votes for and 10 against.

New Rule 3.2 (e) Should a green at the end of the season be deemed unfit for play and has to be closed early, fixtures arranged for that green can be reversed. If this situation arises the winning team will receive League points as per the original fixture.

Proposed by Management Committee and seconded by Calderfield. This proposal was successful unanimous .

Delete Rule 3.2(b) and insert. Practice in League and Cup matches will only be allowed for home players. If an away team player breaches this rule he will not be allowed to play in that fixture.

Proposed by Management Committee – Seconded by Halewood 2. This proposal was defeated 7 for 18 against.

I have been informed of the passing of George Lawson, aged 93 years, a past President of this league. George was a member of APH for many years and latterly at the Gardeners.  His funeral will take place at 11am on Monday 26th November 2018 at Landican Crematorium, Wirral.

I have been informed of the passing of Charlie Rankin an old member of Northway CTK.  His funeral will take place at 10am on Thursday 25th October 2018 at Christ the King Church, Queens Drive and then at Springwood Crematorium.  RH.

I have been informed of the passing of Bob Edwards a long term member and President of  Black Horse BC.  His funeral will take place at 1.20 pm on Wednesday 31st October 2018 at Anfield Crematorium. RH

I have been informed of the passing of Joe McGee a well respected bowler over many years and latterly of Brenesc. His funeral will take place at 2pm on Thursday 27th September 2018 at Thornton Crematorium.  RH.

It is with regret that I have to inform members of the passing of Jean Drummond the wife of Dave Drummond the Secretary of the Liverpool Thursday league  and also this Leagues Auditor. Jeans funeral will take place at 11.20am on Thursday 13th September 2018 at Anfield Crematorium . RH.

Gardeners Pensioners annouce the passing of one of their long standing members Brian Jenkins.  His funeral will take place at 11.30am on Thursday 13th September 2018 at Springwood Crematorium.

In the final of the over 70″s played at the Gardeners Alan Walsh of Grant defeated Billy Shipley of Halewood 15 – 1.  The semi finalists were Tony Broadhurst and Maurice Owen.

Richmond BC report the passing of Billy Sankey.  Billy played for the Clarence for many years.  His funeral will take place at 4pm on Monday 13th August 2018 at Anfield Crematorium.

Brenesc report the passing of Mike |Brady who played for the Club for many years.  His funeral will take place at 3.20pm on Monday 30th July 2018 at Thornton Crematorium.

Gardeners Allenby report the passing of one of their long standing members, Eddie Grice.  His funeral will take place at Springwood Crematorium at 12 noon on Tuesday 17th July 2018.

Sadly I have been informed of the passing of Alan Bloome of Garston Pensioners.  His funeral will take place at 2.15pm on Friday 15th June 2018 at Springwood Crematorium.  R. H.
