With reference to previous insertions regarding rhe 2019 Cup Final this game is now cancelled, Halewood 2 conceding the game due to lack of players.

The 2019 Peter Coyne Cup Final will now be played at Grant and not Gardeners as previously stated. Same date 16th July 1.p.m.

BCGBA Newsletter 10 – 30 June 2021

The oustanding 2019 Peter Coyne Cup Final between Richmond and Halewood 2  will take place on  Friday 16th July 2021 at the Gardeners commencing at 1p.m.

The fixtures arranged for Friday 16th July 2021 will now be played on Tuesday 27th July 2021 which at the moment is a blank Tuesday.

The following temporary rule change will take effect from the games played on the 8^th June 2021 and will remain until the end of the season.

Should a team be players short the opposing Captain can select up to two players from the team who are short who have played in the first four to play again in the last four. Should one or both of the selected players refuse to play again the selecting team will be awarded the game(s)  21 -0. However should there be extenuating circumstances as to why the players cannot play further player (s) can be selected. ( Extenuating circumstances would only include the following –  Illness, player having left the venue or would have to leave earlier than the anticipated finish time of the game.) It is hoped that common sense will be used should this rule have to be implemented.

This rule will appear on the next A.G.M. Agenda to either confirm its permanence or otherwise.

If you visit Halewood Bowling Club you now have to pay to use the pub car park. If you have a vehicle on the car park you must enter your registration number at the bar in the Eagle & Child. Failure to do so will result in a fine.

A minimum spend (£2.00) is required, if you are not purchasing anything you still pay a charge of £2.00. Keep your receipt, it can be used later.

To avoid the £2 charge there are some side roads near to the Club.

The funeral of John Lunds who played Bowls for a number of years in the Prescot area and who was also a member of the Merseyside Referees Society will take place at 11.a.m. on Thursday 27th May at Prescot Parish Church.

Walton Hall report the passing of one of their long serving members John Drake.  Funeral arrangements are not yet available.

I have been informed by Prescot Manor  of the passing of  John Renshall one of their long serving members.  Funeral arragements are not yet available.

For the information of Clubs in the Second Division this year Walton Hall will play their home games at Moor Lane, Walton, the green where Walton Vets used to play.  This is due to considerable damage which has been caused to the pavilion at their normal green.

The British Crown Green Bowling Association on the 26th March issued  comprehensive  guidelines in respect of the resumpion of Crown Green Bowls.  The document can be found on www.bcgba.org.uk.
